Email: [andrew@andrewhazelden.com](mailto:andrew@andrewhazelden.com) 6 | Blog: [http://www.andrewhazelden.com](http://www.andrewhazelden.com) 7 | 8 | 9 | About the Software 10 | ----------------- 11 | The Domemaster Photoshop Actions Pack is a collection of custom Adobe Photoshop actions that were designed to speed up the fulldome content creation workflow. 12 | 13 | The actions provide tools for converting images from several common panoramic formats such as angular fisheye, equirectangular, and cube map panoramas, and general utilities for fulldome production. 14 | 15 | *The Domemaster Photoshop Actions Pack is distributed under the GPL v3 license.* 16 | 17 | 18 | 19 | # Version History # 20 | 21 | ## Version 2.5 - 2017-03-16 ## 22 | 23 | - Fixed a Photoshop CS6 compatibility issue with the "2:1 Equirectangular to Domemaster 180°" action. 24 | 25 | ## Version 2.4 - 2017-01-21 ## 26 | 27 | - Added support for the new Autodesk Revit Vertical Strip and Horizontal Strip panoramic image projections. 28 | 29 | - Added a new experimental set of "UV Pass" actions allow you to prepare UV pass maps that are used for pre-computed panoramic image transforms. This approach is commonly used in compositing to correct for lens distortion. 30 | 31 | Another term for a UV pass map if you are a Foundry NukeX user is an "ST map". A UV pass image template is made using a 16 bit integer red/green gradient image that is then distorted using a program like PTGui Pro and the Domemaster Fusion Macros. 32 | 33 | Note: It is very important that you load and save a UV pass map using an sRGB linear gamma 1.0 color space in Photoshop or you will have distortions in your image template from the non-linear shading of the generated gradients. 34 | 35 | ## Version 2.3 - 2015-12-18 ## 36 | 37 | - Added more sample panoramic images examples to illustrate the different image projection formats. 38 | 39 | ## Version 2.2 - 2015-11-23 ## 40 | - Added a "Cube Map to Gear VR Mono" and "Gear VR Mono to Cube Map" set of actions. The "Cube Map to Gear VR Mono" action creates a 6:1 aspect ratio horizontal strip cubemap and the other action can extract that imagery back into a set of 6 cube map layers. 41 | - Added a "Stereo Side by Side Extract" and a "Stereo Over Under Extract" macro for processing stereo imagery. 42 | - Updated the "Cube Map to X" actions to fix an error that would happen if the File > New... dialog had a transparent background selected, and there was no background layer present in the new document. 43 | 44 | ## Version 2.1 - 2015-11-21 ## 45 | - Improved the Photoshop compatibility of the "2:1 Equirectangular to 180° Domemaster" action. 46 | 47 | ## Version 2 - 2015-11-20 ## 48 | - Expanded the **General Utilities** section to include "1x1 Guide Grid", "1x2 Guide Grid", "2x1 Guide Grid", "6x2 Guide Grid", and "12x1 Guide Grid". 49 | - Expanded the **Transforms** section to include "200% Vertical Canvas Expand", and "200% Horizontal Canvas Expand". 50 | 51 | 52 | # Action List # 53 | 54 | ## Transforms: ## 55 | 56 | > 1:1 to 2:1 Aspect Ratio Expand 57 | > 2:1 to 1:1 Aspect Ratio Reduce 58 | > 50% Scale 59 | > 200% Scale 60 | > 200% Vertical Canvas Expand 61 | > 200% Horizontal Canvas Expand 62 | > Rotate 90 Degrees 63 | > Rotate 180 Degrees 64 | > Rotate 270 Degrees 65 | > Flip Vertical 66 | > Flop Horizontal 67 | > Horizontal Offset 1024 pixels 68 | > Vertical Offset 1024 pixels 69 | > Horizontal and Vertical Offset 1024 pixels 70 | 71 | ## Conversions ## 72 | 73 | > Inverse Angular Fisheye 74 | > Angular Fisheye to Equirectangular 75 | > Angular Fisheye to 2:1 Equirectangular 76 | > 180° Domemaster to 2:1 Equirectangular 77 | > Equirectangular to Angular Fisheye 78 | > 2:1 Equirectangular to Angular Fisheye 79 | > 2:1 Equirectangular to 180° Domemaster 80 | > 3x2 Cube Map to Cube Map 81 | > Vertical Cross to Cube Map 82 | > Horizontal Cross to Cube Map 83 | > Vertical Tee to Cube Map 84 | > Horizontal Tee to Cube Map 85 | > Vertical Strip to Cube Map 86 | > Horizontal Strip to Cube Map 87 | > Mental Ray Horizontal Strip to Cube Map 88 | > Gear VR Mono to Cube Map 89 | > Revit Horizontal Strip to Cube Map 90 | > Revit Horizontal Strip Stereo to Cube Map Stereo 91 | > Revit Vertical Strip to Cube Map 92 | > Cube Map to 3x2 Cube Map 93 | > Cube Map to Vertical Cross 94 | > Cube Map to Horizontal Cross 95 | > Cube Map to Vertical Tee 96 | > Cube Map to Horizontal Tee 97 | > Cube Map to Vertical Strip 98 | > Cube Map to Horizontal Strip 99 | > Cube Map to Mental Ray Horizontal Strip 100 | > Cube Map to Revit Horizontal Strip 101 | > Cube Map to Revit Vertical Strip 102 | > Cube Map to Gear VR Mono 103 | > Cube Map to New Cube Map 104 | > Cube Map Rotate X:+90 Degrees 105 | > Cube Map Rotate Y:+90 Degrees 106 | > Cube Map Rotate Z:+90 Degrees 107 | > Stereo Side by Side Extract 108 | > Stereo Over Under Extract 109 | 110 | ## Masking and Selection: ## 111 | 112 | > Crop to Selection 113 | > Select All 114 | > Save Selection 115 | > Load Selection 116 | > Color Range Selection 117 | > Inside Circular 50% Mask 118 | > Outside Circular 50% Mask 119 | > Fisheye Alpha Channel 120 | > Fisheye Layer Mask 121 | > Layer Mask from Selection 122 | > Layer Mask from Inverse Selection 123 | > Enable Layer Mask 124 | > Disable Layer Mask 125 | > Delete Layer Mask 126 | > Black Matting BG 127 | 128 | ## General Utilities: ## 129 | 130 | > 1x1 Guide Grid 131 | > 1x2 Guide Grid 132 | > 1x6 Guide Grid 133 | > 2x1 Guide Grid 134 | > 2x2 Guide Grid 135 | > 3x2 Guide Grid 136 | > 3x4 Guide Grid 137 | > 4x3 Guide Grid 138 | > 4x4 Guide Grid 139 | > 6x1 Guide Grid 140 | > 6x2 Guide Grid 141 | > 12x1 Guide Grid 142 | > Clear Guides 143 | > Invert Colors 144 | > Background to Layer 145 | > Merge Visible 146 | > Flatten Image 147 | 148 | ## UV Pass ## 149 | 150 | > UV Rectangle Gradient Landscape Layout 151 | > UV Rectangle Gradient Portrait Layout 152 | > UV Equirectangular to Angular Gradient 153 | > UV Equirectangular to Domemaster Gradient 154 | > Horizontal Offset 960px 155 | > Vertical Offset 960px 156 | > Rotate 90 Degrees 157 | > Rotate 180 Degrees 158 | > Rotate 270 Degrees 159 | > Flip Vertical 160 | > Flop Horizontal 161 | > Gamma 2.2 to 1.0 Repair 162 | > Gamma 1.0 to 2.2 Repair 163 | 164 | # Installation Instructions # 165 | 166 | The Domemaster Photoshop Actions Pack is compatible with Photoshop CS3 to CC on both Mac and Windows. 167 | 168 | ## Step 1. This is useful for changing the up orientation of the angular fisheye and equirectangular images prior to the conversion. 252 | 253 | ### Flip Vertical ### 254 | This flips the image upside down. 255 | 256 | 257 | ### Flop Horizontal ### 258 | This flops the image left and right. 259 | 260 | 261 | ### Horizontal Offset 1024 Pixels ### 262 | This action slides the image 1024 pixels to the right and wraps the right side of the image around to the left side. 263 | 264 | This is useful for changing the content in the center of an equirectangular image. This is also useful for fixing image seams and preparing tiling textures 265 | 266 | 267 | 268 | 269 | 270 | ### Vertical Offset 1024 Pixels ### 271 | This action slides the image upwards by 1024 pixels and wraps the top side of the image around to the bottom side. This is useful for fixing image seams and preparing tiling textures. 272 | 273 | 274 | 275 | 276 | 277 | ### Horizontal and Vertical Offset 1024 Pixels ### 278 | This action slides the image upwards and to the right by 1024 pixels and wraps the top and right side of the image around to the bottom side. This is useful for fixing image seams and preparing tiling textures. 279 | 280 | If you are running this action on a 2K square resolution image it will shift the seams on an image's border to the center of the document. After you have finished your cloning or touch-up work you can run the action a 2nd time so the image border will be reset to its original position. 281 | 282 | On a 4K square or 8K square resolution image you will need to run the action multiple time until the seam is shifted into the center of the document. 283 | 284 | 285 | 286 | 287 | ## Conversions ## 288 | 289 | ### Inverse Angular Fisheye ### 290 | This action will allow you to inverse an angular fisheye image. This is the effect "rolling" the inside of the fisheye image to the outside of the frame. This effect works best with a 360° degree fisheye image. 291 | 292 | The action can be used to quickly turn a regular angular fisheye image into a "tiny planet" style image. 293 | 294 | The inverted fisheye effect is achieved by taking your angular fisheye image and doing a polar to rectangular conversion. Then the action rotates the image 180 degrees. The final step is to convert the image from rectangular coordinates back into polar coordinates. 295 | 296 | The latest version of Photoshop CC (14.2.1+) has added support for 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel imagery in the Polar Coordinates filter. If you are using an older version of Photoshop, the action will not work on 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel images due to limitations in Photoshop's "Polar to Rectangular" image filter. 297 | 298 | *Note:* It is also possible to use the "Inverse Angular Fisheye" action a 2nd time to convert a "tiny planet" image back into a normal fisheye image. 299 | 300 | 301 | 302 | ### Angular Fisheye to Equirectangular ### 303 | This action converts a full frame fisheye image into a 360° x 180° spherical panorama with a ratio of 1:1. This means a fulldome image with a 2048x2048 resolution will be converted to a 2048x2048 resolution lat/long image. This is done with the help of the Photoshop polar to rectangular coordinates filter. 304 | 305 | This action can also be used on individual alpha channels by selecting the alpha channel in the Channels tab and then clicking the button for the action. 306 | 307 | The latest version of Photoshop CC (14.2.1+) has added support for 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel imagery in the Polar Coordinates filter. If you are using an older version of Photoshop, the action will not work on 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel images due to limitations in Photoshop's "Polar to Rectangular" image filter. 308 | 309 | Tip: If you see a visible seam artifact at the 0° mark after converting to/from an angular fisheye format you can try flattening the image before performing the conversions. 310 | 311 | 312 | 313 | ### Angular Fisheye to 2:1 Equirectangular ### 314 | This action converts a full frame fisheye image into a 360° x 180° spherical panorama with a ratio of 2:1. This means a fulldome image with a 2048x2048 resolution will be converted to a 4096x2048 resolution lat/long image. This is done with the help of the Photoshop polar to rectangular coordinates filter. 315 | 316 | This action can also be used on individual alpha channels by selecting the alpha channel in the Channels tab and then clicking the button for the action. 317 | 318 | The latest version of Photoshop CC (14.2.1+) has added support for 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel imagery in the Polar Coordinates filter. If you are using an older version of Photoshop, the action will not work on 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel images due to limitations in Photoshop's "Polar to Rectangular" image filter. 319 | 320 | Tip: If you see a visible seam artifact at the 0° mark after converting to/from an angular fisheye format you can try flattening the image before performing the conversions. 321 | 322 | 323 | 324 | ### 180° Domemaster to 2:1 Equirectangular ### 325 | This action converts a 180° Domemaster angular fisheye image into a 360° x 180° spherical panorama with a ratio of 2:1. 326 | 327 | Since a domemaster frame only has a vertical coverage area of 90 degrees when converted into a spherical format, this image will have the bottom / empty half of the spherical frame filled with a black background color. 328 | 329 | 330 | 331 | 332 | ### Equirectangular to Angular Fisheye ### 333 | This action converts a 360° x 180° spherical panorama into a full frame fisheye image. This means a lat/long image with a 1:1 aspect ratio like 2048x2048 pixels will be converted to a 2048x2048 angular fisheye image. This is done with the help of the Photoshop rectangular to polar coordinates filter. 334 | 335 | This action can also be used on individual alpha channels by selecting the alpha channel in the Channels tab and then clicking the button for the action. 336 | 337 | The latest version of Photoshop CC (14.2.1+) has added support for 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel imagery in the Polar Coordinates filter. If you are using an older version of Photoshop, the action will not work on 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel images due to limitations in Photoshop's "Polar to Rectangular" image filter. 338 | 339 | Tip: If you see a visible seam artifact at the 0° mark after converting to/from an angular fisheye format you can try flattening the image before performing the conversions. 340 | 341 | 342 | 343 | 344 | ### 2:1 Equirectangular to Angular Fisheye ### 345 | This action converts a 360° x 180° spherical panorama into a full frame fisheye image. This means a lat/long image with a 2:1 aspect ratio like 4096x2048 pixels will be converted to a 2048x2048 angular fisheye image. This is done with the help of the Photoshop rectangular to polar coordinates filter. 346 | 347 | This action can also be used on individual alpha channels by selecting the alpha channel in the Channels tab and then clicking the button for the action. 348 | 349 | The latest version of Photoshop CC (14.2.1+) has added support for 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel imagery in the Polar Coordinates filter. If you are using an older version of Photoshop, the action will not work on 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel images due to limitations in Photoshop's "Polar to Rectangular" image filter. 350 | 351 | Tip: If you see a visible seam artifact at the 0° mark after converting to/from an angular fisheye format you can try flattening the image before performing the conversions. 352 | 353 | 354 | 355 | 356 | ### 2:1 Equirectangular to 180° Domemaster ### 357 | This action converts a 360° x 180° spherical panorama into a 180° domemaster formatted angular fisheye image. This means a lat/long image with a 2:1 aspect ratio will be converted to a domemaster formatted image with a black circular fisheye mask applied around the frame. 358 | 359 | This is done with the help of the Photoshop rectangular to polar coordinates filter. 360 | 361 | 362 | 363 | ### 3x2 Cube Map to Cube Map ### 364 | This converts a 3x2 cube map format image into the cubic layer map panorama format. 365 | 366 | The converted cubic map faces are named: 367 | 368 |

The Domemaster Photoshop Actions Pack is a collection of custom Adobe Photoshop actions that were designed to speed up the fulldome content creation workflow.
302 |The actions provide tools for converting images from several common panoramic formats such as angular fisheye, equirectangular, and cube map panoramas, and general utilities for fulldome production.
303 |The Domemaster Photoshop Actions Pack is distributed under the GPL v3 license.
304 |
Fixed a Photoshop CS6 compatibility issue with the "2:1 Equirectangular to Domemaster 180°" action.
311 |Added support for the new Autodesk Revit Vertical Strip and Horizontal Strip panoramic image projections.
317 |Added a new experimental set of "UV Pass" actions allow you to prepare UV pass maps that are used for pre-computed panoramic image transforms. This approach is commonly used in compositing to correct for lens distortion.
320 |Another term for a UV pass map if you are a Foundry NukeX user is an "ST map". A UV pass image template is made using a 16 bit integer red/green gradient image that is then distorted using a program like PTGui Pro and the Domemaster Fusion Macros.
321 |Note: It is very important that you load and save a UV pass map using an sRGB linear gamma 1.0 color space in Photoshop or you will have distortions in your image template from the non-linear shading of the generated gradients.

This action will allow you to inverse an angular fisheye image. This is the effect "rolling" the inside of the fisheye image to the outside of the frame. This effect works best with a 360° degree fisheye image.
530 |The action can be used to quickly turn a regular angular fisheye image into a "tiny planet" style image.
531 |The inverted fisheye effect is achieved by taking your angular fisheye image and doing a polar to rectangular conversion. Then the action rotates the image 180 degrees. The final step is to convert the image from rectangular coordinates back into polar coordinates.
532 |The latest version of Photoshop CC (14.2.1+) has added support for 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel imagery in the Polar Coordinates filter. If you are using an older version of Photoshop, the action will not work on 16-bit per channel and 32-bit per channel images due to limitations in Photoshop's "Polar to Rectangular" image filter.
533 |Note: It is also possible to use the "Inverse Angular Fisheye" action a 2nd time to convert a "tiny planet" image back into a normal fisheye image.
534 |
This action converts a full frame fisheye image into a 360° x 180° spherical panorama with a ratio of 1:1. This means a fulldome image with a 2048x2048 resolution will be converted to a 2048x2048 resolution lat/long image. This is done with the help of the Photoshop polar to rectangular coordinates filter.
537 |This action can also be used on individual alpha channels by selecting the alpha channel in the Channels tab and then clicking the button for the action.

1192 |This creates a side by side stereo format horizontal strip style 6x1 alignment guide layout. This grid is extremely useful for making accurate selections in the image when the "Snap to Guides" command is turned on.
1194 |This action will remove all of the guides from the current Photoshop document.

This action will invert the image colors of the currently selected layer. This action can be used on color images, layer masks, and alpha channels.

My favorite use of this filter is to invert a grayscale layer mask. This will reverse the visible and hidden parts of the layer mask.
1201 |This action can be used on individual alpha channels by selecting the alpha channel in the Channels tab and then clicking the button for the action. The action can also used on a layer mask by selecting the layer mask's thumbnail icon in the layers tab and then clicking the button for the action.
1202 |This action will convert a flattened image from the background layer mode into a floating layer that supports features like layer masks.
1204 |The most common use for this action is to prepare an imported picture like a flat JPEG .jpg or Targa .tga file for custom layer masks.

This action will merge all of the visible layers into a single layer.
1208 |This action is different than the flatten image command in that it will ignore any hidden layers. You can use the merge visible command to selectively flatten layers by hiding the other layers, elements, and groups you want to keep.
1209 |This version of Merge Visible can merge a single layer and bake the layer mask and layer style effects into the final image.
1210 |This action will merge all of the layers in the current Photoshop document. This is useful for removing transparency from an image, merging layer style effects, vector shapes, and editable text layers into a single raster image.
1212 |When an image is flattened, all of the transparent background areas in the image will be filled with a solid color.
1213 |Note: You really want to have saved a backup of your Photoshop document before you flatten the image because all of your layers are permanently merged into a single element!
1214 |The new experimental set of "UV Pass" actions allow you to prepare UV pass maps that are used for pre-computed panoramic image transforms. This approach is commonly used in compositing to correct for lens distortion. Another term for a UV pass map if you are a Foundry NukeX user is an "ST map".
1216 |A UV pass image template is made using a 16 bit integer red/green gradient image that is then distorted using a program like PTGui Pro and the Domemaster Fusion Macros.
1217 |Note: It is very important that you load and save a UV pass map using an sRGB linear gamma 1.0 color space in Photoshop or you will have distortions in your image template from the non-linear shading of the generated gradients.
