A 12 | community manager can also organize projects into functional areas and appoint shepherds of these areas to assign 13 | management and engineering leads. 14 | 15 | The shepherds of each functional area can not only assign and maintain leads for each project, but also view 16 | aggregated metrics for their area. 17 | 18 | For individual owners, the OSS tracker gives a daily summary as well as historical information on key repository 19 | metrics such as open issues and pull requests, days since last commit, and average time to resolve issues and pull 20 | requests. 21 | 22 | OSS Tracker works by running multiple analysis jobs as part of osstracer-scraper periodically. These jobs populate 23 | a project ownership database as well as a time series project statistics database. OSS Tracker then exposes a web 24 | application (osstracker-console) that gives visibility into these databases as well as access to control ownership 25 | and categorization of each project. In order to decrease the need for advanced visualization, much of the time series 26 | data graphing leverages kibana on top of elasticsearch. 27 | 28 | More Info 29 | ========= 30 | You can see more about OSS Tracker from our meetup [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s-SS_aXoi0) and [slides](http://www.slideshare.net/aspyker/netflix-open-source-meetup-season-4-episode-1). 31 | 32 | Welcome to OSS Tracker

51 |

OSS Tracker is an application that collects information about a Github organization and aggregates the data across 52 | all projects within that organization into a single user interface to be used by various roles within the owning 53 | organization.

54 | 55 |

For the community manager, all repositories are listed and metrics are combined for the organization 56 | as a whole. A community manager can also organize projects into functional areas and appoint shepherds of these areas to assign 57 | management and engineering leads.

58 | 59 |

The shepherds of each functional area can not only assign and maintain leads for 60 | each project, but also view aggregated metrics for their area.

61 | 62 |

For individual owners, the OSS tracker gives a daily summary as well as historical 63 | information on key repository metrics such as open issues and pull requests, days since last commit, and average time to resolve 64 | issues and pull requests.
