187 |
microBuilder.eu Eagle Footprint Library

188 |
189 |
Footprints for common components used in our projects and products. This is the same library that we use internally, and it is regularly updated. The newest version can always be found at www.microBuilder.eu. If you find this library useful, please feel free to purchase something from our online store. Please also note that all holes are optimised for metric drill bits!

190 |
191 |
Obligatory Warning

192 |
While it probably goes without saying, there are no guarantees that the footprints or schematic symbols in this library are flawless, and we make no promises of fitness for production, prototyping or any other purpose. These libraries are provided for information puposes only, and are used at your own discretion. While we make every effort to produce accurate footprints, and many of the items found in this library have be proven in production, we can't make any promises of suitability for a specific purpose. If you do find any errors, though, please feel free to contact us at www.microbuilder.eu to let us know about it so that we can update the library accordingly!

1943 | In this library you'll find jumpers, or other semipermanent means of changing current paths. The least permanent form is the solder jumper. These can be changed by adding, removing, or moving solder. In cases that are less likely to be changed we have jumpers that are connected with traces. These can be cut with a razor, or reconnected with solder. Reference designator JP.

1 | # Battery Voltage monitor with no current drain breakout board
2 |
3 | Based on previous couple of [voltage divider break out](https://github.com/hallard/R-Divider-Breakout) for ADS1015 ADC board, I needed a simple board being agble to measure battery voltage without draining battery current.
4 | For this I created this little basic board. It's just a basic resistor divider whith a mosfet to enable the measure so it does not drain any current from battery when not enabled. Measure is done using a analog entry of the micro controller (arduino, STM32, ESP8266, ESP32, ...)
5 |
6 | ## Detailed Description
7 |
8 | You only need 3 or 4 wires depending on what you need to achieve
9 |
10 | - VBat (connected to + of the battery)
11 | - GND (connected to - of the battery)
12 | - AN is the analog entry to measure voltage
13 | - EN is the enable pin
14 |
15 | To enable the divider to work, you need to set the EN pin to 0. Leaving this pin floating will disable the divider since there is a pullup on the transistor gate.
16 |
17 | Take care of the max voltage value of your analog input pin, some have limited value (IE ESP8266)
18 |
19 | Voltage on analog pin (when enabled) is VBat * ( R2 / (R1 + R2) ), so with R1=10K and R2=10K voltage is VBat * 0.5. So 4.2V VBat means 2.1V on analog pin. In this case, with 3.3V devices, it can go up to 6.6V
20 | If you need to divide more increase top resistor value example R1=20K, R2=10K you can go up to 9.9V.
21 | Check Voltage Divider online calculator like this [one][10] or this [one][11] if needed
22 |
23 | If you don't want to use enable pin, put some solder paste on JP1 to short the pasd, leave Q1 and R3 unpopulated and you have a basic divider.
24 | In this case to avoid battery drain (that will occurs every time), increase resistors values (470K + 470K for example)
25 |
26 | ## Schematic
27 |
28 |
29 |
30 | Q1 can be any SOT23 P-Mosfet so BSS84, BS250, ... are fine. Resistors are 0805 package.
31 |

37 | You can order the PCB of this board at [PCBs.io][3]. PCBs.io give me some reward when you order my designed boards from their site. This is pretty good, because I can use these rewards to create and design new boards and order them for free, so if you don't care about PCB manufacturer please use [PCBs.io][3].
