(And I'm sure there are walled gardens I'm not a member of or not even aware of...) 24 | 25 | So I'm taking a cue from a really smart idea in the tech world: to use Github to [make lists](https://github.com/jnv/lists) of all of the awesome public media resources, in one place. 26 | 27 | # Instructions 28 | 29 | This page is written in a language called markdown. Links should be submitted as follows: 30 | 31 | ```* [Title of Content](link to content) - description of content``` 32 | 33 | Anyone can add to this list. To add to the list, 34 | 35 | 1. Click the fork button, which you'll find on the top right corner of this page. 36 | 2. In blue, you should now see your username / PublicMedia, then underneath, that it was forked from melodykramer. You're now ready to edit your own version of PublicMedia, which you will merge into the original once your edits are finished. 37 | 3. You should see a link in blue a little ways down that says README.md. Click that link. 38 | 4. On the right side of the page, you should now see small icons in a horizontal row: a monitor, a pencil, and a trash. Click on the pencil to edit the page. 39 | 5. Make your changes in the file. Be sure to follow the syntax formatting that already exists. It's in a language called Markdown, and syntax consistancy across the file will make the final product easy to read. 40 | 6. Scroll down once you're finished with your edits. At the bottom of the page, there's a place to leave a comment about what you've done. This is optional. 41 | 7. Click "Commit directly to the Master branch." (Remember, this is still your version, not the original.) 42 | 8. When you go back to the main page for your version of PublicMedia, underneath the green button, you should see a little gray line that says the branch is some number of commits ahead of melodykramer:master. Directly right of that line, click the button for Pull Request. 43 | 9.
